JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for general repairs, preventive maintenance, and State Inspections on company and customer owned trucks, tractors, and trailers.Technicians complete all needed repairs with safety, quality, and efficiency a priority. They also are responsible for inventory control and processing computer generated repair orders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Builds repair orders and reviews them when job is completed.
- Communicates with customer regarding the work requested.
- Diagnoses and repairs medium to heavy-duty trucks and trailers, including but not limited to preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs to air and hydraulic brakes, tires, driveline, steering and suspension, electrical, AC systems, component overhaul and engine repair and rebuild.
- Performs preventive maintenance on tractor and trailer equipment including routine technical repairs.
- Completes all necessary paperwork including charging out parts and labor accurately as well as working with the parts manager to order any needed nonstock parts.
- Remains technically proficient in all areas of the shop.
- Performs general and routine welding repairs.
- Uses appropriate resources such as parts manuals, repair manuals, and computer to determine the most efficient and effective repair.
- Is a positive role model for all team members and helps to create a positive environment.
- Adheres to all company policies and safety rules and assists in keeping a clean and safe workshop.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
This position requires a high school level education (or equivalent); must have ability to use basic shop mathematics, handbook formulas; may need to interpret simple blueprints or drawings, use a wide variety of tools or precision measuring instruments; may set-up, re-tool, operate a somewhat complex machine on repetitive work.
EXPERIENCE
This position requires three to five years of experience in a diesel repair operation. One to two years of experience driving a tractor trailer is preferred.
